If you have an offset mortgage with Intelligent Finance and for some reason you want to reduce your mortgage payment for a certain period. All that you need to do is to call them up and ask them to reschedule your payments. This is a flexibility that they offer. Of course they would be certain conditionality attached to this. You can also get a flexible mortgage or get your mortgage rescheduled while you work through your financial crisis. You may not have a financial crisis, but are going on a vacation or an overseas visit and you need some spare cash. This can also be arranged, but all you need to remember and watch out for is that you maintain an impeccable record with the bank. If you have been delaying payments on an offset mortgage, that you have taken, have made large withdrawals from your saving accounts. The bank will not look favourably on these. You will end up in a bind and may not get a relief on your mortgage payments. So do remember that it’s important to maintain a good working relation with your bank. Don’t ever get into a situation where you may end up losing your house as well as your credibility.
